Andi Nicole Horstkotte - Placer County , California
Andi was born partially deaf in both ears. She was 3 years old before her parents realized she couldn't hear. There was certainly a lot of miscommunication during that time between her and her parents! At the age of 4, she attended a pre-school at Toro School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This is where she learned the signs of the alphabet, colors, and was given a sign name by a deaf boy in her class. In High School and afterwards, she took a few ASL classes and even helped teach a home-school group sign language.
Andi has had lots of experience with kids of all ages (Including being a Jr. High youth leader for over 5 years, I know! It's crazy!). Currently she is working on building her portfolio in Art Photography, being creative, reading, and enjoying time in nature at the American River.
Andi knew she wanted to teach her own babies sign language for her own benefit but didn't realized that this also benefits hearing babies with their hearing parents. This is how she came across My Smart Hands. Andi is excited to share her knowledge of sign language with others and their children and is looking forward to meeting you all!
