Diana Pruden - Gillam, Manitoba
Diana Pruden started learning baby sign language when her daughter, Clara, was just over a year old. She was amazed and impressed at how much fun it was to be able to communicate with her at such a young age. Watching Clara teach her grandparents a few signs to help them communicate with her was pretty great too.
Every toddler is different in the development of their speech, but giving them options in their way and ability to communicate with others will significantly increase their success rate at being able to express their needs and wants at an early age. It also gives them a sense of pride and satisfaction that they can have their needs met without a long drawn out guessing game.
Diana has mentored high school students in the past through the Junior Achievement Program in Winnipeg and is passionate about providing our children with an opportunity to learn all that they can. She has successfully completed a formal ASL class and is excited to offer the My Smart Hands classes to her friends in Gillam.
