Anja Serfontein - Ingolstadt, Germany
Anja was born in in Ulm, Germany, in March 1977.
She has a background in Business Economics & Marketing. (Anja has worked in Singapore/Asia for 7 years, and during this period, she completed her degree as a ‘Master of Business Administration’) In addition to her focus on business, she has always fostered a strong interest in training, education & cross-cultural communication. The final decision to add a new dimension to her life came after two tragic events in her life. First, surviving the Tsunami, while diving near Phuket/Thailand in Dec 2004, as well as the loss of her first daughter in 2007.
When coming across Fireese’s signing video on YouTube, she was instantly fascinated about this form of communication with babies and toddlers. “Being in an international marriage – my husband is South African – signing with our baby girl opens a wonderful opportunity for to use a common language with our baby, while actually using two different spoken languages (English & German).”
This led Anja to the start of her ASL studies. She began learning ASL after contacting Laura, of My Smart Hands. Anja fell in love with the language and continues her study of it!
