Jeanette Krifchin - Tobyhanna, Pensylvania
Jeanette had an interest in American Sign Language at an early age. She taught herself, through library books, the basic signs of the language. In High School she saw an ASL interpreter for a student in her class and at that moment she knew that she wanted to pursue interpreting as a career. When Jeanette entered College she took ASL as an elective while majoring in Early Childhood education. After seeing how well she did in ASL she changed majors to Interpreting for the Deaf which is what she now has an Associates Degree in.
After graduating College, Jeanette moved from Long Island to Pennsylvania. She is currently a Teacher in the toddler room at the Tobyhanna Child and Youth Service Daycare Center on the Army Base. Even though she used sign language with her baby and experienced the
benefits of using sign, it wasn't until she started using it with the children at the Center that the benefits simply amazed her. She then came across "My Smart Hands" and thought this would be a wonderful way to spread the word of the benefits of using sign with
babies.
Jeanette's knowledge of American Sign Language and experience in Early Childhood Education gives her the ability to share this wonderful gift with you and
your family. The ability to sign with your children is an amazing gift to be given!
