Alaine is a teacher by inheritance and by heart. She followed her mother’s footsteps after discovering her love for teaching when she provided trainings and workshops for the employees of an international company. This led her to complete her Education units at the Philippine Normal University and continue to take her Masters in Special Education at the University of the Philippines. After receiving her license as a teacher, she began to teach children from toddlers to elementary age.
Having been exposed to special education, Alaine is familiar with sign language and its benefits. She first discovered My Smart Hands in 2009 when she stumbled upon a video of 12-month old Fireese on the internet. This led to a series of conversations with Laura Berg. Alaine has always had a love for sign language and continued this passion while she traveled overseas to learn more about My Smart Hands and sign language. By the time she came back to the Philippines, she brought home a certification in American Sign Language and My Smart Hands, Asia.
