Carmen Candel Sanchez - Madrid, Spain
Carmen studied Psychology at The Catholic University of Valencia, Spain. During her undergrad she participated in several international academic programs across the world that included the English Language and its different forms of learning and teaching it. She has participated in educational proposals (learning difficulties, values and goals in education regarding children with economical and family issues) and assisted in research courses in places such as Portugal, Mexico and Amsterdam. In one of those places she learned about My Smart Hands and was really impressed and enthusiastic about this way of communication. In her different levels of learning she had experienced communication difficulties while learning English Language in the past. Carmen quickly became aware of the importance of having a clear teaching strategy to introduce the words that represent the things, acts and feelings in every communicational language.
After discovering My Smart Hands, Carmen began to research the benefits of using sign language with babies and toddlers. It was Fireese’s signing video on YouTube that impressed her the most. This led Carmen to learn the first steps in American Sign Language and become an official My Smart Hands instructor under the guidance of Laura Berg.
